Simplified Voyage Data Recorder

The VR2272B simplified voyage data recorder is one of the simplest, most reliable and competitively priced systems on the market.  As one of the most popular and well supported VDR systems available it conforms to all current IMO, IEC & SOLAS standards for vessels of 3,000gt or above. Designed for ease and economy of installation, the VR2272B is the system of choice for new ships and retrofits alike. It offers an effective and dependable system for retrieval of data in the event of an incident at sea.

The VR2272B captures all mandatory information and stores it in an approved final recording media, the data storage capsule.

Data capture is fully automated and requires no action from the ship’s crew.

Following an incident, a minimum of 12 hours historic playback data is recovered by downloading the information from the capsule onto a laptop computer or other storage device.

Up to a further two days of ships data can also be accessed from the system memory which is then overwritten on a continual loop process.

The system continues recording data without interruption during the download process.

Main Electronic Unit VDR/S-VDR

The Main Electronic Unit has 8 x Standard NMEA data inputs. 1 x high speed NMEA data input and 1 x RGB Radar Video input and 6 x Audio Inputs. All incoming data is recorded and stored within the VDR capsule.

Battery Backed AC/DC Power Supply

The battery backed PSU has 115/220 AC selectable input with a 24v DC output. It is designed to provide a minimum of six hours power to the BNWAS in the event of ship supply failure.

POWER  

Two Yuasa Sealed lead-acid model NPH5-12 5 AH -20 to 60 deg C rating. (RS 320 4508) The batteries operate in any orientation except Inverted. Float-charged as recommended by Yuasa to 27.3 volts using the constant voltage method. After supporting the s-VDR in reserve power mode (for 2 hours) the recommended recharge time is 10 hours. Battery Life is 4 years from installation. Alternative: Yuasa NP 4-12 (RS 198 8068) rated for 5 to 35 deg C

32 Channel Digital to NMEA Interface

Nominal 24v DC at 0.04 Amps. (18 to 32 volts)

INPUT  

8 groups of 4 opto isolated channels. Each group of 4 has its own common line. Voltage input high level 2 to 240 volts DC or AC. Input loading 4 to 10 mA. Voltage input must go to near zero (<5%) in the low state for reliable switching. Can supply its own 24v output for use with isolated contacts such as micro-switches and dry contacts. Series resistors are fitted to each input at installation time to suit the I/P voltage.

4 Channel Analogue to NMEA Interface

 

POWER   Nominal 24v DC at 2 watts. Isolated from ground.
INPUT   4 channels +/- 0.5v to +/- 30 volts for full scale (extendable with additional resistor). Adjustable. 50 K ohm input impedance. Isolated at more than 500 volts level. Sampled at 1.6 second interval. Analogue to digital conversion of 8 bits. 256 values. 4-20 mA signals can be measured by the voltage across the line, terminated in 100 to 500 ohms. The KW935 is not intended to have low resistance and be inserted into a loop with other receivers.1 NMEA 0183 port. Acts as data pass-through input channel so that data can be combined.
